I have found myself in the need for some (PD?) CAD design software (to run under X/Windows, preferably). I need the generated object description to be in some common format, such as IGES, CGM etc, so I want to be able to design objects using this software which can dump the description in a format such as IGES. Does anyone know of any on the net? Alternatively, does anyone know of ftp sites with CAD data? I am interested in objects which are suitable for milling, eg. ashtray, toilet etc. While we're on the begging topic, I would also be very interested in conversion software, IGES <==> CGM, for example, to convert between common formats. Many (*1000000) thanks in advance, I will post a summary if requested. Please email all reponses direct to me.
