V.27 in general defines a 4800 bps modem (sort of like Bell 208) with a 2400bps fallback mode, and a 75bps secondary channel. V.27bis is a four-wire leased line version, and V.27ter is a two-wire dial-up half-duplex version. You can use it on standard phone lines, but it's probably not going to do you much good.
