Summary: Need a bit in object header in Digitalk Smalltalks Keywords: Smalltalk, Binary Message-ID: Date: 14 May 91 09:45:59 GMT Sender: news@metro.ucc.su.OZ.AU Distribution: comp Organization: Sydney University Computing Service, Sydney, NSW, Australia Lines: 18 Nntp-Posting-Host: extro.ucc.su.oz.au Hello, I want a bit to mark inthe object header of any, prefereably all, releases of the Digitalk Smalltalk/V products. This is to let me unload recursive objects linearly to a file, without having to use dictionaries, and other slower structures. I would even consider suspending garbage collection for an interval. As long as the bit isn't used by the GC. Any ideas? Thanks -- Peter Goodall - Smalltalk Systems Consultant - objtch@extro.ucc.su.oz.au ObjecTech Pty.
