The answer to whether they will be gatewayed is mostly in the hands of the list maintainer. I personally would prefer to see the list promoted to an Internet newsgroup (those with the "inet" distribution) and simply gatewayed in the same manner as the TCP-IP list is with comp.protocols.tcp-ip. Perhaps the "inet newsgroup czar" could be persuaded to do this ???
