It depends what you want to do.  I'm looking at just taking a plain vanilla
pc and using it and a program to turn some switches on and off depending
upon zip codes.

Do you want to do something exotic like analog to digital?

I'll try and get some names for vendors of boards that will do 
a large variety of stuff and put it in here.
