But can you edit a multiline command, then release it to the shell -- possibly one line at a time? Can you copy a multiline block of stuff from somewhere else and paste the whole thing into the input and have the shell read it properly? If so, will the output of each command be properly interleaved with the echoed input? I also want to be able to do a search for a character string in the output transcript, but I think this is beyond what you were asking about....
