Binscii was written for a reason, and it is better than uuencode in a lot of ways (especially since now there are C programs to encode and decode binscii files. These could probably be combined by anyone with any useful C knowledge). I went and wrote uuencode for my Apple because I wanted to have it, but I certainly prefer binscii!
