I don't know anything about the "Update" disk, but Atari Interface magazine
has recently begun shipping an 8-bit "Disk of the Month" to supplement
their already popular ST Disk of the month program.
 
I'm not sure how much the disk subscription would be, but their
phone number is: (313) 973-8825.
 
If you belong to one of their participating Atari user groups, the club
should be able to obtain the Disks of the month for a greatly reduced
price... check with your club librarian.

I'll see if I can get a listing of what's been on the most recent disks..
