I am using passive (not self-powered) Sony SRS-5 speakers, which are a 
walkman extension type.  They were a measly $9.99 for the package of two at 
Target, a Dayton-Hudson discount store similar to K-mart.  The
sound is fantastic with my Soundblaster.
