I've since been trying, to no avail, to get MacTCP stuff to work right. Yes, I have things set up in the "secret" configuration- MacTCP and AdminTCP in the system folder, and an alias of MacTCP in the control panels folder. I've set things up identically on an SE/30 and a IIcx, and both of those systems work fine. I'm wondering if my problem could be with the Nuvolink card in the IIci. I've got an Asante in the SE/30, and an Apple EtherTalk card in the IIcx. About the only thing I haven't tried yet is wiping the hard drive on the IIci and installing everything from scratch, to be certain there are *no* other variables. Has anyone else run across problems like this? I'd also be interested in *any* network-connection prob's you've had with the release version of system 7. thanksinadvance! -- ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ dave long dlong@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu research programmer dlong@uxh.cso.uiuc.edu computing services office AppleLink: A0377
