Of course, I wasn't sure what the outcome would be. I had no idea how compatible my game library was. So, for virtue of all you out there that are considering an upgrade, here's how my library performed: Completely compatible: SimCity Supreme, SimEarth, Tetris Color, Vette!, Nicklaus Golf, Stratego, Shanghai v2.0, Hardball 2, AFT 2.0, Three in Three, Mini Golf, OIDS, Diamonds, Armor Alley, and Glypha II 0.9. I tested each of these for a few minutes, and they all seemed perfectly normal. I did not play a complete game in each (in fact, I'm not sure I've >ever< done that!). Somewhat compatible: Sargon IV. It works, but it's not too happy about it. The background gets disturbed, and it seems to refresh a fair amount. But it runs. Not compatible: Dragon's Lair. All appears to work fine, but I just can't get past the enter-code box. Yes, I bought the program, and have the kill-your-vision burgundy number sheet. It just hangs in this box ... solution: restart via the reset switch :-(. Not compatible: Tracon 1.5. It runs, but the fonts and other screen graphics are distorted beyond readability. Guess I'll have to upgrade to Tracon // Mac (that // is a 2, for some reason...). Rec.Aviation had a recent announcement of availability, and claimed System 7 compatibility. For the record, the testing machine is a Macintosh IIcx, 13" color monitor, standard 8-bit (256 color) video card, 8MB ram, 80MB hard disk. I tested under a basic System 7 - I have not yet installed some of my old inits and cdevs, but I don't forsee any problems. I hope this answers some questions concerning possible compatibility problems in the all-important entertainment market! -rob. Standard disclaimer: This is not from Apple! It's from ME! Your results may vary depending on the system, the weather, and the current odds on horse number four in the sixth race at Belmont. -- /---------------------------------------------------------------------------\ | R.
