Keywords: d/a chip, audio, repairs, NeXT hardware Message-ID: <1991May16.032744.8269@neon.Stanford.EDU> Date: 16 May 91 03:27:44 GMT Sender: hitt@neon.stanford.edu Organization: Computer Science Department, Stanford University, Ca , USA Lines: 17 What d/a chip is used for audio in the NeXT (cube)? I'm using a cube which loses the ability to make any sounds about 5 minutes after it is powered up (``any'' includes even system beeps), and that makes me think that it has a faulty d/a chip which quits working after it gets moderately warm. Has anybody else had this problem? How fast is NeXT with repairs? Is the time for repairs so long that it would be reasonable for one to replace the chip instead of surrendering the machine for repair? I'd appreciate any followups or e-mail. Thanks. dan hitt@neon.stanford.edu
