Normally I run a 40-line window on the console and vi and other programs run fine. But sometimes vi switches to an 8-line window when I invoke it! From then on every time I execute vi I get only 8 lines. I can solve the problem with "set window=40", but the only permanent fix is to close the workspace and open a new one. Other programs that depend on window size (like less) work fine, and I cannot find any clues in my environment variables. -- William Silvert, Habitat Ecology Division, Bedford Inst. of Oceanography P.
