If you are running info (under X) there is a bug in /usr/bin/info. The line that reads "xrdb $KEYFILE" should be changed to "xmodmap $KEYFILE" or commented out. It causes the resource database to be wiped when you run info (because $KEYFILE isn't a resource file). This might be your problem, maybe not.
