FREE summer school.. and if NONdisabled kids have that option DISABLED kids as an aggregate should have that option too. Else it is not equal protection under the law. If a parent wants a kid to go to summer school the courts have in about 180 volumes of case decisions said it is a property right of that child to get it. That is how ALL civil rights and educqiton laws have been settled. from Bilingual ed to women's equity ed to bi-cultural ed, to special ed, to english as a second language and testing thereof to remedial ed (chapter 1 stuff) etc.. YOu nor I nor any ONE PERSONAL opinion is NOT going to squelch it. And I think you should learn that these were hard fought battles. And good ones. That kid won the right. As do ALL kids who want summer school. Disabled kids are NOT a suspect class. They are like any other kid. They need reasonable accomodation and have won that right in the IEP process... just as a non disabled kid can register in sumer school so should disabled kids have that ease of choice and indeed this decision loudly proclaims it. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!278!632!Tzipporah.Benavraham Internet: Tzipporah.Benavraham@f632.n278.z1.fidonet.org
