I suspect that you don't want that trailing comma in the newsgroups
pattern.  Try this instead:

	ME:comp,misc,news,rec,sci,soc,alt,!alt.sex.self,gnu,ne,to/\
	alt,ba,ca,inet,gnu,na,usa,world
