ERMINE ICING 5 T flour 1 c milk 1/4 t salt 1 c butter, softened 1 c sugar 1 t vanilla Combine flour, milk and salt in a pan with a wire whisk. cook over a medium heat, whisking constantly, until mixture is thick and smooth. Cool completely. When cool, beat with a blender until smooth (it will have formed a "skin" when it cooled, that's why you beat again) In a separate bowl, beat butter, sugar and vanilla until smooth. Add cooled, and beaten flour/milk mix and beat until thick and creamy. Yum!! Makes a generous amount for a two layer cake.
