The Computer Scientist column by William Barden (P.14) covers not only how to make a joystick, but how to interrogate it from BASIC. His approach also covers how to use th joystick port to provide a cheap interface for up to 4 analog and 4 digital measurement devices (ie temperature (thermister), light (photocell), switch). This is a really nice magazine and is edited by one of the former contributors to the _Scientific American_ Amateur Scientist column. -Dave
