During the '73 war, the Israelis developed a fairly effective form of overwatch against wire-guided missles. While moving, one tank in the platoon was designated to look out for missles (or one tank in each direction). When they saw a launch, they alerted the entire platoon and took evasive action while laying down suppressive fire with machine guns.
