Way back when I was involved in this stuff (1985) DEC had a rule
that you were not allowed to hook up a DEREP (DEC Repeater) to a
DELNI (DEC multiport transceiver box). I could never find out why,
so I took a big coil of wire, hung it on the wall, and attached
transceivers to it.

But I am still curious. Did anyone ever find out why? Would anyone
care to make a w.a. guess?
