I have priced a leased line and while the monthly charge is cheaper than a regular second line ($16 vs. $20), the install hurts at $450. I talked to the folks at US WEST about installing 4-wire service on a regular line into the house. They said that this could be done and was called RJ11C service. They further said that all 4 lines would be passwd through the switch to a point that had RJ11C service at the other end. Is this true, and if so, would it work for these modems. I know they don't dial/answer, but I think I have a work-around for that. What would happen if I tried to use this connection to place a regular phone call, how would the switch take the 4-wire input and shoehorn it into the 2-wire circuit on the outgoing side? Regards, -=Chris P.S. Please follow up to me as I don't have a lot of time to read news now.
