When do you expect to ship? In time for X11R5. Or as soon as some other internet service provider beats me to it and does it themselves; I'd recommend contacting your existing feed(s) directly and mention how happy you'd be to have a nice remote ftp facility and a full-text search interface to comp.archives. Presumably anyone with a wet piece of string connecting them to the internet could do this right now. If the 'rftp' design is proper, you could even be a hop or two off the internet and still offer the service as long as you have an 'rftp' link to an upstream site that's on the net. Given a reasonable caching model, and prefetching stuff into the cache that's mentioned in comp.archives, you'd be in real good shape. Make the links quick enough and disk space cheap enough and comp.archives turns into something very much like a comp.sources group. -- Edward Vielmetti moderator, comp.archives emv@msen.com
