Do you want decent (conforming) sources or a pile of junk? Maintaining hacks like "prints" and "std-err*" means junk. I, too, noticed the increased demand for disk space when I recompiled everything with the Estdio library. However, it is (a) faster and (b) standard, contrary to the old stuff.
