The 512K of RAM is definitely a consideration if you have a stock 2mb machine. If you have a machine with 6mb, though, the fact that RAM runs faster than ROM might enter into your equation. As for 2.0 being trashed by run-away programs, nada. The only thing possibly getting trashed would be your MMU translation tables.
