The power source is external. When buying from Mac Connection, you may need to purchase a 220 V power source in an electronics shop (I don't know what the voltage in NZ is). It works well with any Mac with an SCSI port, with one exception. The problem is that the box has to be turned on BEFORE your Mac looks at SCSI, just like any HD. With the Portable sleeping, the adapter seem to communicate for a while until bus timeout, and when waking up, network will not work. You have to turn it out and on, then to restart the Portable.
