How can I use Apple's 3270/5250 NB Card for communication with a 5250 machine ?

I cant seem to find any documentation on the subject. I have the 3270 API
but the book has nothing about the 5250 part of the adaptor. Should I use the
3270 API or is there another API I should use?
I am trying to write tools for the CTB inorder to communicate with a 5250
machine.
