Message-ID: <9857@idunno.Princeton.EDU> Date: 22 May 91 23:07:24 GMT Sender: news@idunno.Princeton.EDU Organization: Starfleet Academy: Princeton University Lines: 34 I've read here about people replacing the Monaco 9 and Chicago 12 fonts (in ROM) on their machines with modified versions of the fonts (as font files). I'd like to replace my Monaco 9 with a font named "Programmer 9" that I took out of the program "Alpha". ("Programmer" is identical to Monaco, except that you can tell the difference between O 0 I l -- the 0 is narrower than the O, and the bottom of the l is bent. In Monaco, each pair of letters looks identical, which is annoying.) How do you do it? I've tried two methods: - Removing the `resf' and `FRSV' resources (there is one of each) from the System. This made Monaco 9 appear in my System file when I opened it in the Finder. I renamed "Programmer 9" to "Monaco 9", but whenever I tried to display the font by double-clicking on the file or drag it into the System file, my machine (which had 1.5M free) complained that it was out of memory. - Leaving the System intact, and using the Font/DA Mover 4.1 to option-open the "Programmer 9" font file and move it into the system. This worked; however, the old Monaco kept appearing instead of the version I was trying to replace it with. I'm running System 7.0, of course, on a Mac SE. Can anyone shed some light on this subject?
