Message-ID: <1991May22.232956.20532@milton.u.washington.edu> Date: 22 May 91 23:29:56 GMT Sender: news@milton.u.washington.edu (News) Distribution: pnw Organization: University of Washington Lines: 20 I just upgraded to system 7 via download from ftp.apple.com (no manuals). Most of it makes sense (and lots of nice improvements), but here's one mystery: After installation, I looked through the installation disks (actually installation folders, I used the net.install stuff), and found a folder called "Desktop Folder". It had a plain icon, and was empty, but when I tried to drag it to the root level, I got some message saying I wasn't allowed to. I'm guessing "Desktop Folder" is a reserved name for a useful gadget, but I'm at a loss as to whether that folder was actually one of those gadgets, or just a pain folder masquerading as something else. If it's not the real thing, any idea how to get one? If it's the real thing, please give me a hint what to do with it. Balloon help said nothing, and I don't have TFM. Thanks for any hints. Please don't spend much time on this; it doesn't seem to be causing any problems, just curiosity. -- Russell owen@astro.washington.edu
