Message-ID: <38B4510B2000303A@MSUS1.MSUS.EDU> Date: 20 May 91 19:37:00 GMT Article-I.D.: MSUS1.38B4510B2000303A Sender: daemon@ucbvax.BERKELEY.EDU Organization: The Internet Lines: 24 I live in a world of PCs, Macs, VMS Vaxen, & workstations (SGI & Sun). PC & Mac folks are pestering me for a way connect up to the thinwire ethernet that presently includes the Vaxen & workstations. The first concern seems to be remote printing, but telnet, remote backup, & X can't be far behind. I, of course, seek a PD solution for the PCs (so I can spend money on real machines). Any satisfied users of PD PC/Mac software for remote printing? [if so what ftp address?] Is NCSA telnet any help for printing? The PC folks have talked about PCnfs & DEC pathworks...any satisfied users of those products? Would CMU tcp/ip stuff solve remote printing problems, by allowing printing through the vasen? I think I'm interested in solutions that would make a PI the central printer, but mostly I'm interested in minimum cost. thanks ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Kirkman DECnet: 55860::TKIRKMAN Dept. of Physics HEP-> MNHEP::55860:: SPAN-> WAVES::55860:: St. John's University INTERnet: tkirkman%55860@vx.acs.umn.edu Collegeville, MN 56321 tkirkman%55860@msus1.msus.edu (612) 363-3811 BITnet: tkirkman@csbsju -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
