If you know what document file you want to work with, the recomended method to open it would be to use the File Manager. Using the File Manager, go to the directory where the doc file is at and double click on it. This will start WinWord with the doc file as the only open document. If you start WinWord by just double clicking on the Program Manager WinWord icon, it is assuming you want to start a new document. Here's a trick to create icons for each document file. Bring up both the Program Manager and File Manager and position them so they will not cover each other when you move from one to the other. Now select the doc file you want from the File Manager, push the left mouse button and drag over to the Program Manager and drop it over the Program Manager group you want to put the icon into. If the association is set correctly you will see the WinWord icon the the main part of the doc file name (i.e. without the .DOC). Now all you have to do is double click on the icon to bring up that file in WinWord.
