Why are there no LED's with multiple diode emitters in a single package
(or are there)?  A standard sized LED had enough real estate in it to
hold more than one emitter---there are 7-segment displays that are smaller
than a standard package.  Seems like there would be a demand for high
brightness, multiply redundant (parallel connection) LED's.
