You should be able to get a good 2400 baud modem for less than half that price. Most all external modems will work just as well on an Amiga as on a PC, and if you have an Amiga that's newer than the original 1000, it'll even use the same cable. Look around at the ads and find a 2400 baud modem. Expect to pay between $100 and $150 for a good one.
