   If you have the very first version of ROMs, then Commodore's IEEE disk 
drives won't work; if you have the upgrade ROMs, then they will.

   Hmm, I forget which characters in the power-up screen go with which ROM 
version; that would be the easiest way to identify which ROM you have.  
Upgrade ROMs contained a machine language monitor and the originals didn't; 
perhaps SYS 1024 is a good test (if you get a printout announcing the values 
of 6502 registers and a dot prompt ("."), then you can use the Commodore IEEE 
drives).

   There were other drives, but they weren't well-supported and you'd 
probably be hard pressed to find one in working order now.

   Once upon a time, 8K was enough to run MicroChess (it didn't work on the 
4K PET... gee, I wonder why?!?), but I have to admit that you can't do much 
with 8K.

   If this machine is in *mint* condidion, I may be interested in buying it 
as a personal 'museum piece'.
