For performance (and admininstrative) reasons we would like to connect them to a 635 (also with HPIB) and make the 635 a filestore/NFS server. The disks have been configured with no swap space. Q1. Do we have to partition each disk before connecting to the 635 (ie dump the data - partition - then restore (yuck)) or will the 635 treat each disk as having one (very large) partition? Q2. Will disk partitioning be available for the 300 series ? - if so when ? Before anyone asks, I am in favour of partitioning - you can always create a single partition the size of the disk (I think!). Q3. If the answer to Q2. is affirmative, will you be able to connect a disk previously partitioned on a 635 system onto a 300 system (and vice versa) by simply unplugging from one and plugging into the other? (It might be necessary to undo the above changes if the 635 develops a fault) Thanks in advance Kenny Chan post: Kenneth Chan Computer Science Department University Of Liverpool PO Box 147 Liverpool L69 3BX email: kjc@uk.ac.liv.cs.and
