System 6.whatever can't use more than 8 megabytes because of 24-bit addressing (24 bits allows 16 Mb of address space, about half of which is reserved for ROM and, I guess, I/O, leaving 8 Mb for RAM). Thanks to all of you who enlightened me. I guess it's on to System 7.0 for me!
