Summary: I'm looking at the Expandable SE to save some $$$$ Keywords: SE 68030 video RAM upgrades Message-ID: <1991May25.041209.19427@panix.uucp> Date: 25 May 91 04:12:09 GMT Organization: Greyston Business Services Lines: 34 I am quite impressed with what I have seen of System 7.0, but I feel like I'd be a fool to start using it without being able to use Virtual Memory. That means I need a 68030 CPU. Then I look at the prices of 68030 Macs and I wonder if I really need that... Now, there are a lot of different 68030 upgrade systems for the SE. Pricing a used SE together with one of these upgrades it begins to look attractive. However, I have some questions. a) Which of these 68030 upgrades is most cost effective, i.e.: 1) Provides for the most RAM 2) Provides for external video and >color< 3) Is most reliable b) Though it's less attractive from a cost perspective, the old used IIs are also looking good. I ask the same questions about 68030 options for them.
