Thing #1: Macintosh Common Lisp 2.0 beta something is now out.
Upgrade, and it works better/faster/consier with VM. 1.3.2 was listed
as being "mostly compatible" (ie. don't turn on VM and you'll be
okay). sigh.

Thing #2: Make sure you reformat the drive with the new HD SC Setup
program, then boot under 6.x to fix the PRAMS (hold down CMD OPT SHIFT
while selecting Control Panel). If that doesn't work, call Tech
Support and see if they have any better answers.
