IBM has released a fix for the problem of uucp being *so* slow.

Refer to apar #ix18820.  You will need 3005 before you can use it
though.  I have not tested it yet.

BTW, IBM doesn't consider this to be much of a problem.  We had to
kick and scream before they would fix it.  Thanks to our SE for
helping.
