Irvine Lines: 10 Nntp-Posting-Host: envy.eng.uci.edu Does anyone have any idea on this device: 4 inch diameter, 7 inch long, white ceramic, 3 terminals with 1/2 inch standoffs on one end which went to a low voltage hi current transformer (filament?), large rings surrounding each end are major current/voltage conductors, small ring around center is probably control electrode. This was used to switch 30kV, hi current. Manufacturer: EG&G. 8614 / HY-5. 7337. My guess is an ignitron or similar. If you know what this is, please tell me --- thanks!
