I recently got *.tar files through anonymous ftp sites.

I am assuming that I have to uncompress these files somehow, but
I don't know.

Is there a utility that I can uncompress tar files on a PC or IBM-AIX.
I don't have a modem to acces BBS's; I have a copy of Borland C++.
