A recent message about compiling perl 4.003 under SCO UNIX said 
that the perl tests will fail if you link with shared libraries 
(-lc_s).

I found this to be the case when I compiled with the SCO standard 
'cc' compiler.

However, when I compiled it with 'gcc', I found the perl tests
all passed...even though it was still linked with -lc_s.

Can anyone explain why this might be the case?
