I would appreciate any pointers to references on distributed,
coarse-grained matrix algorithms.  Also, Golub/van Loan has
the following reference:

  C.H. Bischof, "QR factorization algorithms for coarse grain
  distributed systems," PhD Thesis, Cornell, 1988.

Has this work been published anywhere?
