The parent gadget is "hidden" in the extreme "outside" border of either
directory window.  For the left hand window, click on the extreme left
border to get the parent, for the right hand window, click on the extreme
right border.  Other hidden gadgets include a "last-directory" in the small
open rectangular space just "outside" of the path name at the top of
each dir-window.  Good luck!  (p.s. these are documented in the docs...)
