Yeppers, that little squeal (as has been pointed out) is Easy Access's Sticky
Characters turning itself on... Furthermore, if you hit Shirt-Command-Clear,
you will turn on Menu Keys.  Then you can control the mouse with your
number-pad (or whatever it is called).  Kinda nice sometimes...
