I need do this to transfer the file to a Unix box for printing there. With System 6.0.7 and a document printed from Word 4.0, I get a modest file size of about 30Kbytes (not including LaserPrep). The same document printed under System 7 runs to over 1 megabyte. The bulk of the PostScript file seems to be taken up with bitmap representations of TrueType fonts. I presume that when printing directly, the printer driver will query the printer for the PostScript equivalents; obviously this is not possible with printing to file. Or does it print using the bitmaps ? At the moment, the printing facilities of System 7 are usable for me. Can anyone suggest a solution for getting smaller file sizes for PostScript printed to a file, as per 6.0.7 ?
