Please email replies. Thanks. I've noticed similar behavior, and believe it started when I made an alias of the trash, and trashed the alias. Since having done that, parts of the disk icons, most often the names or parts of the names, disappear until I click on the icon or name. This happens when I put something into the trash, and also when I emptied it.
