System 7.0 aliases do indeed work properly with NetWare v3.11 and NetWare 
for Macintosh v3.0.  However, this is not relevant to your System 7.0 
distribution woes.

The idea of trying to copy System 7.0 without using the Installer is 
fundamentally flawed.  You should copy the "System 7.0:System Software 
7.0:Installer Version" folder from the CD-ROM to the server and make 
things much easier for your users.  The Installer can be launched from the 
server volume and there will be NO FLOPPY DISK SWAPS.  If you don't have 
the CD-ROM, I suppose you should put disk images on the server.
