Why don't the telephone companies allow customers to *choose* their own PINs, as some banks now do for their ATM cards. More than one sequence of 14 digits would be hard for many people to remember. If it is illegal for local and long-distance carriers to exchange and coordinate such matters, why aren't consumers given the option to make their own lives simpler? Just a thought.
