Provided documentation (source & elsewhere) for these is totally inadequate, and I've had no response from the author, so I thought I'd suck a bit of bandwidth here. :-) I've used RayShade for a while, and I'm consistently impressed by the quality of its output. It'd be a shame not to see what these other textures are capable of.
