pathalias is a program that reads "map" entries and produces least cost
bang paths from your machine to every machine in the maps. This is a
system used by USENET (the UUCP dial network) to route mail. You are
on the Internet and probably do not need to worry about that. You
may need to look into Domain Name Service though. Hope this helps.
